The world’s first slate symphony

It’s not enough just to bang the big drum when we turn 150. We need a full percussion system, and preferably a slate percussion system!

Over the past year, composer Terje Isungset has been digging for slate in the quarry above Otta, composing both commissioned works and instruments from and for slate. He brought in two of Norway’s foremost percussionists and three local talents. The very sound of Otta in a symphony with sounds no one has heard before.

But where do you keep such a slate symphony? In our raw and rugged production hall of course!
